Signature Ministry In Action
In the heart of Pittsburgh, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is doing something deeply powerful—reaching beyond its sanctuary walls to bring Christ’s compassion into hospital rooms, rehab centers, and quiet living rooms across the city.
Through its Visitation Ministry, founded in 2015, Holy Trinity provides holistic care—spiritual, emotional, and physical—to those facing illness, isolation, or recovery. It’s not just a ministry. It’s a lifeline.
For over a decade, this team of faithful volunteers does more than deliver meals or make phone calls. They show up—with soup, scripture, prayers, handmade crafts, and a quiet presence that reminds the sick and homebound that they are not forgotten.
Whether it’s the Greeting Team sending heartfelt cards, the Meals Team delivering home-cooked nourishment, or the Prayer Team lifting names before God twice a month, each role reflects the church’s core calling: to love one another well. This Christ‑centered care to the sick, homebound, and caregivers, builds stronger parish connections and extends an open hand to the broader community.
It stands as a clear reflection of their mission: proclaiming and living the Orthodox Faith through active compassion.
Recognizing that caregivers need care, too, the church also hosted a “Care for the Caregiver” seminar, offering fellowship, spiritual encouragement, and even temporary respite care. It’s a bold move that shows just how far the ministry’s reach goes—not just to the sick, but to those walking alongside them.
Holy Trinity invites everyone to take part in this sacred work. Whether reading scripture bedside, running errands, or simply being present, volunteers become a living extension of the church’s mission.
